Temple Lodge Table Lodge June 25, 2009

In the Spirit of Kipling:
The cannons were all ready and aligned. The Brothers were all trained and prepared.
And so the battle began.

Table Lodge 2009

Cannons to the South, Cannons to the West, Volleyed and Thundered. Half a liter, half a liter, half a liter downward as we all took part in the festivities. The toasts were all sincere and well delivered, the timing only improved with practice. To all those who spoke and those that par took, it was truly a great night. But to all of us to a man, the last toast should be dedicated to those who served best; in the kitchen and in the Lodge to the chiefs and stewards, for the food was of quality and the powder in good supply. So from those of us that charged the Valley and those that stood by, join me as we pay tribute to those Noble Servants.

Ready....Aim.....Fire......Good Fire....Fire All.
VIVAT! VIVAT! VIVAT!

Donate to Life: Thursday April 23, 2009

On Thursday April 25, we received a vist from R.W. Bro. Simon LaPlace and W. Bro. Richard E. Denno to promote the Connecticut Freemason's Donate to Life Campaign.

Our Junior Steward, Bro. Anthony Giunta has been in on hemodialysis for over two years and is waiting for a kidney transplant.

The mission of the Connecticut Freemasons Organ and Tissue Donor Registration Program is to increase the number of available donors by increasing the number of Connecticut residents signed up with the registry of Connecticut State Motor Vehicle Department. Click here to change your status with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles . Currently, 35% of licensed drivers are registered with the program. Approximately 60% of thnsplanted each year are deceased organs, which come from the organ registry.

In the state of Connecticut, nearly 1,000 patients are always on waiting lists for lifesaving organ and tissue transplants. Unfortunately, 65 died last year, still waiting for that organ which could have saved or significantly improved their lives. Nationwide, that waiting list for organs exceeds 100,000.

District Deputy Presentation
Fidelity St. Johns' #3 April 12, 2008

On April 7, 2008 at the 219th Annual Communication of Grand Lodge, R.W. Bro. Stephen Bowen was installed as District Deputy for District 1A. and V.W. Lemuel G. Johnson Jr. was installed as District Lecturer/Associate Grand Marshal.
This is a great honor for Temple Lodge #65 and for Westport.

DD_AGM.jpgOn April 12, 2008 the newly appointed District Deputies of Districts 1A, R.W. Bro. Steven A. Bowen (sitting) accompanied by his District Lecturer/Associate Grand Marshal, W.B. Lemuel G. Johnson Jr. (standing), were presented in formal ceremony to the brethren of Temple Lodge #65.

The ceremony took place at Fidelity St. Johns #3 Lodge in Fairfield and also included a presentation to R.W. Brother Philip R. Roberts, accompanied by his District Lecturer/Associate Grand Marshal,  V.W.Bro. Danny A. Camp.

Two District Deputies and a District Lecturer/Associate Grand Marshal

Temple Lodge # 65 has the honor of having two sitting District Deputies in the lodge,  R.W. Bro. Steven A. Bowen District Deputy of District 1A, (pictured above) and the picture below shows R.W. Bro. Duncan Stalker (right), District Deputy Grand Master for New York  2nd Westchester - Putnam District and Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Costa Rica, near the Grand Lodge of New York, with V.W. Bro. Lem Johnson (left), District Lecturer/Associate Grand Marshal, for District 1A of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut.

lem_duncan.jpgDuncan, who is an effervescent Scotsman often seen in his kilt and sporran, has been a member of Temple Lodge #65 for many years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the lodge. He can often be seen shaking his head, when the rest of us think the ritual is perfect and woe betide anyone who applauds during a degree - Duncan is a stickler for tradition.

Lem joined the lodge in 2007 and  brings expertise in ritual and lodge etiquette. Lem has embarked on a tour of District 1 lodges, with a lecture and discussion on lodge etiquette and behaviour.  More information
